Maintenance and safety
General recommendations
Place the oven on a level, will not burn basis. Do not burn without water
and always keep the water level above the heat exchanger. Drain the water after swimming,
Wash the inside with a mild detergent and leave the lid ajar to allow moisture to evaporate.
Winter use
Completely drain the unheated system. Do not leave the stove unattended in cold weather.
and keep the water level above the heat exchange area.
Ignition and traction tips
Sometimes, at low air pressure, humid weather or strong winds, the chimney draft may weaken.
In this case hot tub with external heater heats up smoothly if a few steps are performed correctly and safely.
When traction is poor – this sequence works best
- Preparation. Open the air damper, check that the spark arrester and chimney are clean;
Use only dry (<20% moisture) firewood. - Light the inside of the oven. Place small wood chips and natural fire starter on the grill.
Heat with small flames to warm up the heat exchanger and start to create draft. - Gently heat the chimney. If the pull is weak, briefly "push" it:
roll up a longer strip of paper (or use a special chimney lighter), light it and
by holding it in a metal scoop or long-handled lighter hold for a few seconds
near the chimney opening so that warm air creates an updraft.
Do not stand on the edge of the tub. – work from a stable surface, wear gloves;
Do not use flammable liquids. - Increasing firewood. When the flame gets stronger, add larger pieces of wood; open the air damper
Adjust so that the burning is bright but not dull.
Useful habits for longevity
- Clean the chimney regularly; monitor the spark arrester and hood.
- On a windy day, try to keep the chimney opening on the windward side - the hood must stand firmly.
- Do not light an empty hot tub or leave the fire unattended; a cover helps reduce heat loss.
